Property prices go south on Southern Highlands

19 Jan, 2009 04:08 PM
Plunging regional prices have not stopped Southern Highlands owners trying to sell their country estates, with more property than ever hitting the market.

According to today's Australian Financial Review, Southern Highlands agents say regional listings in the picturesque region just south of Sydney have increased about 10pc over the past year, while prices have collapsed by at least 10pc.

AFR cites figures from domain.com, showing there were 505 Southern Highlands properties on the market in January 2008 compared with 551 last week.

Bowral agent Drew Lindsay said prices for Burradoo properties had dropped about 10pc but in other areas of the NSW Southern Highlands they had fallen even more.

"Prices have probably dropped a bit more generally over the Southern Highlands except for the high end which is holding its own," he said.
