Hunter vineyards picked off

15 Mar, 2010 11:55 AM
INVESTORS have bought two vineyards in the Hunter Valley worth $2.75 million.

A 10-hectare property called Sweetwater Villas on Old North Road at Pokolbin was sold to expatriates living in Oman for $1.25 million, according to The Australian Financial Review.

The property has five villas and a three-bedroom homestead as well as two hectares of vineyards.

A second 10-hectare property called 270 Degrees was sold to Sydney investors for $1.5 million. The property had two hectares of merlot vineyards. Both properties were sold through Jurd's Real Estate principal Alan Jurd.

They follow the $6 million sale of the nearby Peppers Convent to the family of former News Ltd chief Ken Cowley. The family owns the Tower Estate, Tower Lodge and Roberts restaurant in the area.
