An air seeder especially suited to medium-sized mixed farming operations has won the prestigious Henty Machinery Field Days machine of the year award.
Austrade representative, Randall Tosh, Kansas City, USA, who was part of a US trade delegation visiting the field day, presented the award.
The winning machine, a Vaderstad Seed Hawk 600C, was imported by Ambrose and Lisa Dolan, 'Toorawindi', Coonabarabran, NSW.
Especially designed to handle rough and rocky terrain the machine had lay-back openers mounted to a fixed-height tool bar.
Mr Doolan initially imported the machine for use in his zero-till operation and after discovering there was no Australian dealer he decided to market the air seeder to other farmers.
* A special report from the Henty Machinery Field Days will appear in The Land, NSW, October 2 edition.
