Uardry Dohne sale raises the bar with $2018 av

03 Sep, 2010 09:33 AM
A Riverina Dohne sale cleared almost 200 rams for a average of more than $2000 yesterday, raising the bar for the spring ram sales.

Uardry, Hay, NSW, sold 199 rams - an extra 20 on last year - to gross $400,600 and and average $2018, up $200 on last year.

The sale topped at $5000 for a ram sold to Don and Karen Mills, Kardinia Dohne stud, Corowa, NSW.

Buyers found every way to bid on rams from Longreach in the north to Tasmania in the south and plenty throughout NSW, Victoria and South Australia.

Genetics and depth of breeding drove the sale, combined with buyers chasing a self replacing sheep option that can deliver a good carcase and returns at the saleyards.

* More sale details to come in The Land print edition on September 9.
