New England Merino Field Days a big hit

ORGANISERS and stud breeders are celebrating yet another successful New England Merino Field Days (NEMFD) with record numbers recorded across the two-day bi-annual event.

An estimated 350 visitors from across Australia and as far away as the United States inspected sheep from 25 New England studs.

More than 200 dinner guests congregated at Uralla showground at the end of the first day where they were treated to a fashion parade orchestrated by the Australian Wool Fashion Awards Director, Liz Foster from Armidale.

Guest Speaker and director of New England Wool Andrew Blanch gave a speech about the kind of wool the company is chasing and the direction it is heading.

NEMFD president Chris Clonan said commended stud breeders on the effort they put into their display.

NEMFD sectretary Janet Carter said people visitors to the event were genuine wool growers that enjoyed attending every two years to see the progress of the participating studs.
