A TWO man show has snagged the top gong in the prestigious Riverina Peppin Shaw ewe competition.
The winner of the 10 flock race was Mungadal Station, Hay owned by corporate giant Paraway Pastoral company and managed by Jock Campbell.
The 59,000ha property had just over 2000 maiden Mungadal blood Merino ewes on show.
Judge Ian Evans from Australian Wool Innovation said the large even line of commercial ewes put forward by Mungadal was a perfect example of ewes with plenty of depth in the hindquarter which equalled “more blows, more bales”.
In second place were Joel and Fiona Porter, “Ramsay”, Boorooban for their 193 head of Woodpark Merino blood 2010-drop ewes.
An impressive line of ewes from David and Barbara Butcher, “Bronte”, Mossgiel were third placegetters.
The best new entry was awarded to Rowan and Sarah Houston, Budgewah Pastoral Company, Hay for their Woodpark Poll blood 2010-drop ewes.
