10 Feb, 2012 02:15 PM
GENUINE Riverina-bred sheep commanded the top money at the 77th annual special sheep sale at Urana today.

There were just under 12,000 sheep penned which sold to a top of $216.

The top draft were 172 Pooginook-blood Merino ewes bred by regular vendors Andrew and Katrina Dore, “Bimbadeen”, Urana.

They were bought by Urana re-stocker Phillip Jones, “Skelbrook”.

The 2008-drop ewes were scanned-in-lamb with April-drop twins.

The majority of joined Merino 2010-drop ewes hovered around the $170-$190 mark.

Five-year-old Merino ewes made from $88 to $147, SAMM ewes made to $175, and Merino wethers sold from $60 to $104.
