The Sheep CRC has ramped-up its industry training capacity to cater for the suite of products and services emerging from the national R&D effort into wool, meat and the sheep that produce them.
Experienced wool industry executive, Lu Hogan, has joined the Sheep CRC as project leader for industry training.
Sheep CRC chief executive, Prof James Rowe, says industry training is vital to the CRC’s extension and adoption work.
"As the scientists deliver new tools and techniques to underpin productivity increases, the CRC recognises that the absolutely essential next step is education and training – so these tools can be quickly and effectively adopted on-farm," Prof Rowe said.
"As well as establishing a number of new training initiatives for CRC products that are under development, Lu will coordinate training requirements across all CRC programs and liaise with industry groups and stakeholders.
"It’s an exciting time ahead."
Prof Rowe says Ms Hogan has an extensive background in agriculture and the wool industry in particular, and has been warmly welcomed by CRC staff and participants.
"Lu was with AWI for eight years, most recently as General Manager for on-farm R&D, as well as being responsible for AWI’s producer group networks," he said.
"This, with a very strong rural background and agricultural consulting experience, she is ideally suited to manage and implement this important work for the Sheep CRC."
