Another week, another lamb record

03 Sep, 2010 04:45 PM
PRIME lambs sold at Wagga Wagga on Thursday have once again smashed the national record selling to $204 a head.

The new record was for a pen of 143, 11-month-old heavy export weight lambs sold by the Fowler family, “Kooroogong”, Harefield, and bought by commission buyer Cameron Rosser.

This price beats the old record, which was also set by the Fowler family a week ago, by $1.

During the past month the national lamb record has been broken a number of times as processors battle it out to pick up the best lambs in a limited supply pool.

But selling agent, Greg Hulm from G.J. Hulm and Company, Wagga, said this might be the last record breaking price for the season.

He expects prices to soften as we head into spring.
