ARGYLE Thoroughbreds, at Panuara, near Orange – a region renowned for producing some of Australia’s best prime lambs, fine wines, and successful Thoroughbreds – has introduced imported horse, Mosayter, for stud duties.
Mosayter adds a new dimension to Argyle – an 809-hectare (about 2000-acre) farm that provides pasture improved paddocks – since his relocation from Western Australia.
There, the eye-catching brown stallion was used under restricted conditions, but sired Perth winners, as well as a stakes-placed galloper.
Just last week Mosayter was represented with two first starters – four-year-old mare, Rose, won at Northam, while two-year-old gelding, Mickey Drippin, finished fourth at Belmont Park, Perth.
Physically, Mosayter appears a product of supersires in the pedigree cross that produced him, Storm Cat and Mr Prospector.
One of the hottest sires in use in Australia at this time, the Coolmore stud visitor, Tale Of The Cat, is by Storm Cat, and from a Mr Prospector mare.
While Mosayter won two successive races (and had a third) over one mile as a three-year-old in the UK in a six-start career, his dam, Bashayer, was stakes placed.
By Mr Prospector, Bashayer was produced from Height Of Fashion, a Bustino Group Two and Three winner and among the standout northern hemisphere producers of the past 25 years.
Six of Height Of Fashion’s foals were stakes winners, including four-time Group One winners Nayef and Nashwan.
