Wodonga steers to $785

03 Sep, 2010 10:21 AM
Steer prices remained fully firm at Wodonga Thursday, ahead of huge rainfall tipped for the north east of Victoria this weekend.

With 100-150mm expected to fall, steer prices averaged 211c/kg, while heifer rates were slightly off the pace averaging 190c/kg.

There were 2800 head penned by the selling agents Landmark, Elders and Corcoran Parker, however several large drafts were lost or withdrawn unable to be trucked due to the previous wet conditions or the prospects for an outstanding season.

Heavy steers 360-400kg made $700 to $785, topping at $810 (191c/kg), and lighter steers 280-350kg made $670 to $750 averaging 220c/kg.

Heifers made $525 to $730 and averaged 190c/kg.
