EIGHTEEN schools in the Sydney basin preened and primed steers for the annual Unischool Steer Competition held at the Clarendon Show Grounds on August 16.
The Unischool Steer Challenge began in 2000 when teachers from five schools and lecturers from the University of Western Sydney came up with the idea to foster links between the schools and the university.
The challenge has blossomed, with more than 250 students now involved.
The schools involved stretch from Northholm Grammar School, Arcadia, in the north to Macarthur Anglican School, Camden, in the south and St Ignatius’ College, Riverview, Lane Cove in the east and Hawkesbury High School in the west.
The schools are allocated one steer each, which they have to look after for 100 days.
The Champion Led Steer was awarded to Chifley College, Shalvey Campus paraded by Thomas Blair and Bede Polding College won Best Presented School.
Rhiannon Roth from Elizabeth Macarthur High School was the champion senior parader and Jake Feneck from Bede Polding College was the champion junior parader.
