Plenty of reasons to visit Beef Spec 2012

17 Jan, 2012 03:00 AM
LANDMARK'S involvement in the NSW Beef Spectacular and Trade Field Day stretches back to the event's inception.

For 2012, the company has again sponsored what it sees as a vital cattle event, said Landmark stud stock agent John Settree, Dubbo.

"Landmark originally came on board with the NSW Beef Spectacular and Trade Field Day as a minor player and in the past three years or so we have increased our involvement," he said.

Mr Settree, who, in previous Beef Spectacular events had been involved in the stud stock side of things as well as presenting the major ribbons, will be among several Landmark representatives present at Dubbo this year.

"We will have two or three of our senior Landmark livestock representatives at the event and we will also have some of our local Landmark blokes from across central NSW," he said.

Mr Settree said Beef Spectacular was a standout cattle event and the fact it had cattle as its focus made it an important event on the agricultural calendar.

"We certainly congratulate Rural Press for instigating the event," he said.

"The fact it is held in a central location in NSW, as well as the fact a mix of commercial and stud breeders attend, makes it an ideal event for people to visit."

Mr Settree said there were several reasons ? not least the appeal of the cattle judging ? for those who had never attended a Beef Spectacular event to visit it for the first time in 2012.

"People coming along to Beef Spectacular can come and have a talk with all the stud breeders regarding both the major and minor breeds," Mr Settree said.

He said another appealing factor was the wide range of products available associated with the cattle industry, such as cattle yards and animal health products.

The wealth of information that can be attained was also chief among his reasons for encouraging attendance, with seminars ensuring plenty of information on the industry would be available.

"Visitors can get information sourcing genetics, as well as marketing, processing and also about export markets," he said.

"There will also be a wide range of information on technologies, so I would encourage people to come along and enjoy the event."
