Onslow Angus bulls average $6844

01 Sep, 2010 05:16 AM
The Onslow sale on Monday offered and sold 60 Angus bulls to a top of $22,000 to average $6844, up from $5800 the previous year.

The top bull sold to Sydney-based businessman Ian Chambers, “Wytaliba South”, Roslyn, and his manager John Fisher for $22,000.

He was a 1082 kilogram son of Raff Midland Z204, with 45 centimetre scrotal circumference, scores of +112 for 600-day growth, +3.5 for eye muscle area and positive for intra muscular fat.

He was secured to put length and body depth into the Wyatliba South calves.

Mr Fisher said they run around 140 breeders, producing weaners at 350 to 360 kilograms for sale in May around the weaner sales and they keep the heifers to breed on with.

Bulls sold to several other studs, with a large buying contingent from the Goulburn district, South West Slopes and Riverina areas.
