TODAY marks the start of the fourth NSW Beef Spectacular at Dubbo Showground, three days jam-packed with a feast of activities for beef cattle producers.
With 733-plus cattle in led and unled classes being judged in heifer, junior parader and led steer classes, 27 individual breeds displaying in led judging, plus unled bulls and steers judged today, Friday and Saturday, there’s a lot of beef action attracting visitors and exhibitors of all ages and backgrounds.
Hollywood Angus stud groom, Rachael Wheeler, Peak Hill, was among those preparing for the busy three-day event yesterday.
As well, an extensive list of beef industry topics will be discussed during the “Meating the Markets” seminars being conducted daily by sponsors: Industry and Investment NSW, Cargill Beef Australia, and Meat and Livestock Australia.
Add to that trade displays offering everything from cattleyards, animal health advice and products to pasture, banking, motor vehicles, leather goods and genetics.
In the parade ring today visitors will be treated to the heifer show, junior paraders and led steer and heifer judging, plus the pen of three steers judging.
Tomorrow, in four rings will be the judging of the Angus Feature Breed, Australian Shorthorn, Beef Shorthorn, Charbray, Charolais, Devon, Lowline, Mandalong Special and Maine Anjou.
Unled pens of bulls judging will start at 5pm.
On Saturday, the led judging rings will feature Braford, Brahman, Brangus, Droughtmaster, Gelbvieh, Hereford, Limousin, Murray Grey and Poll Hereford.
