Cutting edge carcase competition lauched

17 Feb, 2010 10:43 AM
The first of its kind ever to be run, the Pacific Beef Carcase Competition was designed primarily to give forward-thinking commercial producers access to leading technologies in everything from genetics to meat quality.

Geoff Willett’s 8000-head feedlot, Maydan, at Warwick in southern Queensland, will host entries.

Cattle are expected to be 330kg-370kg on entry to the feedlot, which will be by March 15.

A mid-term field day will be held at Maydan, where competitors will receive information about the performance of their cattle and hear guest speakers.

Processing will be during the week of May 31, in time for the 2010 Primex event, which runs June 17 to 19.

Categories include team feedlot performance, individual and team carcase and total team score. Teams can be of four head, with the best three animals used for results.

Entry details are available from www.primex.net.au or by calling 0755314600.
