Marketing food loyalty

The success of farmers’ markets across Australia has created a link between producers and consumers in their area, according to Mudgee Fine Foods manager, Liz Mayberry.

“People support local producers differently to how they support supermarkets,” Mrs Mayberry said.

“They have an affinity to local producers that stands them apart from other names.”

Mudgee Fine Foods operates the popular Mudgee Farmers Market and is at the heart of the booming food industry in the local region and in the Hunter Valley.

Mrs Mayberry said the proximity of the producers to consumers was good for the environment.

“If people buy local, transport is kept to a minimum,” she said.
