Soybean crops thirsty

27 Jan, 2010 09:15 PM
It's been an up and down season for North Coast soybean producers with extended dry spells, extreme heat and periods of too much rain.

Planting so far has matched that of recent years with almost 12,000 hectares in the ground, however late sowing may affect yields.

Heavy pounding rain just before Christmas followed by hot, windy days have taken a big toll on country and some growers are still considering replanting but the window of opportunity is fast closing.

Yesterday afternoon (WED), area's around Lismore and Casino recieved up to 30mm in a wind storm.
