Show stalwart happy to work in shadows

10 Apr, 2009 05:00 AM
Quirinidi resident, Jock Longfield, will be a notable absentee for the second year running at the Sydney Royal Show this week.

And if you’re wondering “Jock who?”, you haven’t spent enough time admiring the amazing District Exhibits displays, to which he’s been a contributor for many years.

It’s just that these days the Second World War veteran is happiest working away behind the scenes.

Now in his 80s, after two hip replacements, he won’t be rushing anywhere – including Sydney.

But he’s still as busy as ever.

Mr Longfield has helped find prize produce for the Central District display for more than half a century, and this year will be no different.

Full story in The Land, April 9.
