Students harvest top results

17 Jan, 2010 04:00 AM
In a shock result, Pymble Ladies’ College has knocked off James Ruse Agricultural High School in the Higher School Certificate rankings for agriculture.

Day students at the ladies’ college, Rebecca Beaumont and Elissa McFarlane, who are best friends, came first and second, respectively, in the State, beating 1263 other NSW agriculture students.

And unlike many past top-ranking students, Rebecca and Elissa, who scored Australian Tertiary Admission Ranks of 99 and 99.2 respectively, want to work in agriculture.

James Ruse was displaced from the number one position for the first time in seven years.

Its students traditionally top the subject, which is compulsory at the highly selective school from Years 7 to 10.
