Hurlstone heritage listing could spike selling plans

13 Oct, 2009 08:07 PM
HURLSTONE Agricultural High School has been listed on a National Trust register as pressure mounts on the NSW Government not to sell the school's land.

The NSW Education Minister, Verity Firth, should receive a report about the possible sale of Hurlstone's land on Friday in the wake of an inquiry led by former NSW Farmers Association president, Mal Peters.

Mr Peters' findings are expected to be made public next month when students have finished Higher School Certificate exams.

As much as 140 hectares of the 160ha Hurlstone could be sold by the NSW Government for residential housing depending on the outcome of the Peters inquiry.

A decision by the National Trust's Historic Buildings Committee to put the school on its heritage register is likely to make any land subdivision more difficult.

Isn't it marvellous; when Nathan Rees and Verity Firth want something to be proud of they puff out their chests and showcase cows from Hurlstone on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. What a great photo opportunity when they plan to sell Hurlstone's Educational Property! Typical hypocrisy that you'd expect from this bunch of loony pollies but then again they are rapidly running out of things to be proud of. Maybe next they'll sell the Sydney Domain? But, then maybe the master plan is to keep the Domain as the state's last little bit of green space to graze Hurlstone's cows so politicians can have fresh milk for their coffee OR willl they ban the drug COFFEE, ban cars and turn the Harbour Bridge into grazing land for an urban farm? Come on Nathan wake up! Just bottle the methane gas emitting from Macquarie Street.
