Demand for rural universities is growing, and the institutions are responding by developing state-of-the-art facilities and campuses, and providing students with tertiary study closer to their homes.
This, in turn, is adding economic value to the university towns.
In Albury, new facilities and buildings will help accommodate all Charles Sturt University (CSU) Albury students on the one campus for the first time since 1995.
The development of the Thurgoona site left students split between central Albury and its new campus – but from Februrary, Thurgoona will cater for the university’s 1900 full-time students and 300 staff.
“It’s an exciting time for us,” said head of CSU in Albury-Wodonga, Professor Allan Curtis.
“It will make a big difference for us and there’s been good support.”
