Information days, at Bellingen, Kempsey, Grafton and Coraki on the North Coast will provide an opportunity for farmers to get together and discuss the impacts of recent floods with technical specialists.
NSW DPI regional director John Williams said: "“Veterinarians, livestock officers and agronomists will be on hand to talk about animal health, post-flood pasture regeneration and feed requirements for livestock.
“A rural financial counsellor and a mental health professional will also be present to discuss financial and personal impacts of the recent floods.
“As well, there will be information on the assistance packages available to primary producers from the Rural Assistance Authority.”
Mr Williams said the May floods were some of the most widespread in recent times, affecting all the major catchments on the north coast.
“Farmers in some areas have been hit three times with major storm events this year and are reeling from the impact,” he said.
“The aim of these information days is to give farmers access to the technical information they need, some support in tough times, and an opportunity to discuss their situation with others in a social and friendly setting.”
