Controversial Nationals MP Andrew Fraser has resigned from the NSW Opposition front bench for allegedly pushing a female colleague.
The spokesman for primary industries, road safety and rural affairs was allegedly involved in a physical clash with the colleague in the NSW Parliament last night.
He was reportedly frogmarched from the chamber after verbally abusing Labor MP John Aquilina and, as Opposition MPs tried to calm him, he allegedly shoved Nationals MP Katrina Hodgkinson.
Only last month Mr Fraser was deposed as deputy leader of the Nationals by the shadow leader of the house Adrian Piccoli after National Party leader Andrew Stoner called a surprise spill of leadership positions.
Mr Fraser drew attention for bad behaviour after he tackled Mr Tripodi in the chamber in 2005 during a debate on the Pacific Highway.
Mr Fraser had to admit in 2005 to drinking in the parliamentary bar before he chased Mr Tripodi and attempted to tackle him during the debate.
He was suspended from Parliament by former opposition leader Peter Debnam over the incident.
Mr Fraser was controversially reinstated to the front bench in 2006.
The Opposition Leader Barry O'Farrell said: "This morning I spoke to Andrew Fraser about an incident in the Legislative Assembly last night.
"At the end of the conversation Mr Fraser offered his resignation from the shadow ministry.
"I accepted his resignation in line with my determination to raise standards in public life."
