The storm season is rearing its thundery head with storms expected today across the Northern Territory, northern South Australia and New South Wales.
During Wednesday the radar and lightning tracker on FarmOnline WeatherZone was littered with strikes about the Tennant Creek and Alice Springs areas as a trough, good instability and tropical moisture combined to produce an amazing ight show.
And it looks like more of the same today, not just for the NT, but for parts of NSW as well.
A trough will swing through NSW early, increasing surface humidity, and then a trough inland will help to trigger storms later, particularly on the ranges.
Thunderstorms will fire up in the south first, but the northern areas won't miss out.
There is even potential for these storms to be severe with large hail, although any Severe Storm Warnings won't be issued until later today.
For those on the coast who enjoy a storm, best hop in the car and drive west as southeasterly winds should be cool enough to prevent any storms from reaching the beaches.
