The Department of Water and Energy has announced an increase of 10pc for general security irrigators in the Lower Darling and high security users in the Lachlan, bringing their total to 30pc of entitlement.
However irrigation allocations in the Murray and Murrumbidgee Valleys remain unchanged.
"The increase in the Lower Darling has been possible as small inflows in the Murray have reduced the need to commit water from the Menindee Lakes to the Murray Valley," Deputy Director-General David Harriss said.
Mr Harriss said that Murray Valley allocations would remain unchanged, with the minor improvements in water availability also being used to ensure all currently announced allocation and carryover could be delivered.
"While there has been some inflow to the Snowy system, Murrumbidgee Valley tributary inflows have been very low, with total water availability in the Murrumbidgee staying the same," he said.
"Given the dry state of the catchments significant rainfall is needed to generate flows in the creeks and streams in both valleys."
Meanwhile, while stock and domestic users in the Lachlan can now access 50pc of their licensed water entitlement, an increase of 30pc.
This follows small inflows into Wyangala Dam in recent months.
"Unfortunately there is not enough water in storage to improve the allocation for general security licence holders, who currently have access to 14pc of their opening 2008/09 water account balance," Mr Harriss said.
General security licence holders in the Macquarie-Cudgegong water sources now have just 1pc of their entitlement.
