NSW Farmers hosts US delegation at Henty

22 Sep, 2008 05:08 PM
NSW Farmers' Association President Jock Laurie will officially open the 46th Henty Machinery Field Days tomorrow, and says the importance of such field days cannot be underestimated.

Mr Laurie will host United States Consul General, Judith Fergin at the event, as well as taking her on a tour of farms in the area.

"Henty Field Days are a wonderful showcase of agriculture in NSW, especially given more than 50,000 professional farmers and contractors are expected to come along," Mr Laurie said.

"While some parts of the state are having a good season, we are well aware that in many parts the situation is very difficult, and this is certainly true of the area around Henty.

"However it's positive to see farmers coming along to these types of events despite this situation, as they really are a positive way to stay in touch."

Mrs Fergin will be at the field days as the Guest Personality on Wednesday September 24, the second day of the event.

As well as touring some local farms, the NSW Farmers’ Association has organised a dinner for the Consul General with farmers from around the region.
