YOUTH Allowance, the closure of Dalwood and the Palm Avenue Centre and other education concerns will top the agenda for next week’s Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association of NSW (ICPA) conference in Balranald.
Delegates, observers and guests will travel from across the State for the conference, which is themed “Balranald and Beyond – Believe to Achieve”.
ICPA president, David Cameron, Rowena, said there were more than 60 motions on the agenda and more than 100 people were expected for the two-day conference.
“Motions will be presented and debated over the two days and will include issues concerning allowances, boarding and agricultural high schools, hostels, communications, Country Areas Program, distance education, early childhood, rural schools, special education, tertiary education and travel,” he said.
“The Conference presents the opportunity for members to set our policies for the next 12 months.
“Motions will be debated and the passion and determination that members have to access an appropriate and continuing education for their children will be evident.”
Guest speakers at this year’s event include Country Education Foundation of Australia executive director, Jocelyn Jansson, and Royal Far West Children’s Services chief executive officer, Jan Kingston.
