IT WAS a start to the week worthy of winter in Sydney town as a blanket of cloud obscured a large portion of eastern New South Wales, delivering the best falls in months.
Sydney is well on it's way to meeting it's December monthly rainfall average, picking up a total of 66mm so far. Today was the wettest day in two months for the city, picking up 16 millimetres to 9am.
Catchment areas have also had their fill. Across the Warragamba over the weekend falls of 40 to 80 millimetres were recorded, enough to give the dam level a boost.
As per usual the luckiest place state-wide (in terms of rainfall) has been the Mid-North Coast, with some four-day totals up around 250 millimetres. This includes Mt Seaview and Kindee.
The western slopes of the ranges have been faring pretty well too. Several day accumulations for many locations are greater than 100 millimetres. This encompasses Coonabarabran, Dubbo, Wyalong and Orange.
The rain, though, is set to ease over the rest of this week, although heavy and large falls are still expected in the north. The good news is that showers and storms should still stay in vogue... at least into the new year.
