WHAT is probably the largest silo complex built in Australia has sprouted at the site of Roger Fletcher's export meatworks at Dubbo in the past few months to service a burgeoning new containerised grain export business.
The complex with a total capacity of 43,000 tonnes is part of a diversification move by Fletcher International Exports into grain marketing and has been built by Cowra company, Geronimo Grain Systems.
With Australia's sheep flock numbers getting leaner by the year, Fletcher International has moved quickly into grain marketing to develop a new income stream, initially starting by packing wheat and pulses into containers for other traders.
In recent months the company has also started trading grain on its own behalf and has actively promoted its marketing service to grain growers this harvest.
