First 11 rural broadband beneficiaries announced

30 Jun, 2009 06:21 PM
QUAMBONE and Wilcannia are among the first 11 rural regions to benefit from the State Government's community broadband development program.

The program aims to improve broadband accessibility in some of the more isolated communities in NSW, with the first regions being announced by State Minister for Rural Affairs, Tony Kelly.

"The tyranny of distance is one of the greatest hurdles faced by rural and regional communities," Mr Kelly said.

Residents of Hill End, Pilliga, South West Rocks, Delegate, Dalgety, Balranald, Goodooga, Coleambally and Jubulum, near Tabulam, will be the first recipients of the money, with further communities across NSW to be announced later this year.
