MORE than 250 people gathered in Dubbo this morning to show their support for the Royal Flying Doctors Service.
The State Government has called for tenders for provision of the NSW air ambulance service, with Regional Express subsidiary, Pel-Air, competing for the service.
Widespread concern about the future of air ambulance provision and impacts the loss of the contract could have on the Royal Flying Doctors Service prompted people from all walks of life to gather in Dubbo's main street.
Members of Parliament and councillors were among the speakers, but messages of support from across the State were shared with those gathered.
The Government has not announced the successful tender but those at the rally called for Health Minister, John Della Bosca, and Premier, Nathan Rees, to abandon the process and retain the Royal Flying Doctors Service as air ambulance contractors.
