NSW utility sheepdog championships for Orange Field Days

22 Sep, 2008 10:03 AM
The October Australian National Field Days will host this year's NSW State Utility Sheepdog Championships.

Organisers of the popular sheepdog trials at the Australian National Field Days, to be held on October 21, 22 and 23, are delighted with the coup.

Holding the tournament during the field days will mean more entries and better facilities for the event.

"It will mean an increase in dogs and handlers with interstate sheepdog workers often attending the field days," trial co-coordinator Jayne West said.

"Visitors will see some of Australia’s top sheepdogs in action."

Mrs West said the smaller area of the ANFD site will suit spectators.

Members of the ANFD Sheepdog Sub Committee are redesigning the course to add several new obstacles that will keep the crowd enthralled during the event.

There is more than $2500 in prizes and trophies on offer during the event.
