A small attendance of mainly agents and trade buyers provided the competition for 16,500 sheep and lambs at Jamestown's May market.
The majority of sheep were sourced from dry pastoral areas, with sheep presenting accordingly.
Regular buyers from agricultural districts were represented, with interstate interest from Broken Hill, Hay, Wagga Wagga, Bendigo and Nhill.
Best wether lambs improved $12-$10, peaking at $91 for a pen of prime heavy lambs in from the Treloar family, of Cummins on Eyre Peninsula.
Pastoral lambs were firm, while there was renewed interest in older wethers thanks to a tight supply and another shipper order for live export.
Ewes, however, struggled as most lines sold at cheaper rates and the trade dominating thanks to a lack of grazier interest.
