 Win big with worms

Win big with worms

24 Oct, 2008 04:44 PM
To celebrate the third birthday of WormBoss as a valuable worm management tool, 12 lucky producers from across the country will win prizes, each valued at $1000.

WormBoss is the world's leading sheep worm website, designed to help producers meet the challenges of worm management in an environment of increasing drench resistance.

Six of the 12 winners will each receive a $1000 hotel voucher, including accommodation and meals - for use throughout Australia, New Zealand or Fiji.

The remaining six will each win a farm visit from a specialist advisor who will test their sheep flock's worm burden and develop a worm control strategy for the business.

This advice, support and management plan, as well as worm egg counts and drench resistance tests is valued at $1000.

Those who enter will also receive the informative WormBoss monthly email newsletter which offers advice to combat drench resistance and ensure a healthy flock.

Kym and Michelle Thiele were the 2006 winners and the South Australian producers are still sold on the benefits of WormBoss.

Their prize entitled them to $1000 worth of services from Pro Ag Consultant Colin Trengove, who developed a tailored worm management strategy for their sheep enterprise.

"We sampled mobs when we would normally just drench them and found that they didn’t need treatment," Michelle said.

"This saved us not only the cost of the drench, but the time to do it and the added stress on the flock.

"We now look at our entire livestock health in a different manner."

In this year’s draw there will be two winners from each state - New South Wales/Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, South Australia/Northern Territory, Tasmania, Queensland and Western Australia. They will be notified in early January 2009.

To be eligible to win, sheep and wool producers need to visit the website, www.wormboss.com.au, and register their details by no later than Tuesday, 30 December 2008.

WormBoss is funded by the Australian Sheep Industry CRC and Australian Wool Innovation, and supported by Animal Health Alliance.

It has been compiled by Australian parasitologists, consultants, drench companies, drench resellers and department of agriculture staff in each state.
