Herefords topped a national sale record of $62,500 at the annual show and sale at Wodonga last Thursday.
The total sale averaged more than $8500 from the 133 Hereford and Poll Hereford lots on offer at the auction, the first national since the merger of the two societies to Herefords Australia Limited.
Topping the sale was a 24-month-old bull from Barry and Joy Godbolt’s Victorian stud, Charnock Herefords, Rochford.
The partnership of Hereford committee chairman, Geoff King, of Bowmont Herefords, Tatyoon Victoria and Paul and Nola Rogers of Centennial, Coolah secured the 1104kg bull for use an outcross in their separate enterprises.
Both stud and commercial buyers were active in the sale which clocked up eight lots over $20,000 and 20 lots over $10,000.
