The 1030 kilogram rising two-year-old bull stood second in his class to the intermediate champion when exhibited by Ian and Paul Durkin, Mountain Valley stud, Coolatai near Warialda.
Muscling, backed by performance, was the focus of stud and commercial bull buyers from four States who purchased 89 of the 110 bulls offered on Tuesday, producing an 81pc auction clearance at an $8247 average.
While the average is back by $328 on last year's fixture, demand was higher and an extra 16 bulls sold this year.
The sale grossed $734,000.
Senior and grand champion bull, Kerlson Pines Bundaberg B40, weighing 1050kg at 25 months, was shown by the Kerley-Wilson Partnership of Crystal Brook, South Australia, and purchased for $16,000 by Tomingley based The Ranch Poll Hereford Stud of Greg and Del Rees, who believed Bundaberg to be the "X" factor for a stud sire and the type of bull they have been looking for as their next stud sire at The Ranch.
Two bulls sold at $24,000 each.
The reserve intermediate champion Oldfield Achillies B22, shown by the McArthur family, Oldfield stud, Emerald Hill near Gunnedah, was bought in partnership by the Ikin family's Cloverlee stud, Bannister, and the Robertson family's Wynella stud, Roslyn, near Taralga.
The other was Yalgoo Booster, a second placegetter offered by the Nivison family’s Yalgoo stud, Walcha and purchased by Garry Moffitt and family, Queanbeyan.
