Turnbull tweets his way out of politics

06 Apr, 2010 03:41 PM
FORMER Liberal leader Malcolm Turnbull has announced today that he will not be recontesting his seat of Wentworth in the next Federal election.

Announced on Twitter and detailed further on his webpage malcolmturnbull.co m.au, Mr Turnbull thanked in particular the former Prime Minister John Howard for his time spent as Environment and Water minister.

He also expressed his disappointment that an emissions trading scheme was no longer Liberal Party policy.

Mr Turnbull had indicated that he would reconsider his life in politics when he was ousted from the Liberal leadership by one vote.

However, he had not made a decision until now and earlier in the month even put his hand up for a ministerial role when Senator Nick Minchin resigned and the cabinet was reshuffled.

A great loss to Parliament and to the country. The average IQ of the two Houses of Parliament will be sadly lessened when he leaves. The only way I see to restore and in fact improve the parliamentary average IQ is to oust Barnaby from his place in the Senate at the same time Malcolm departs.

Well! He sure was in it for the long term wasn't he. I suppose when the carbon tax con fell through, It was time to move on to greener pastures. No great loss really and I'm sure the Libs will get on with the job without him. trex.

This slimebag will not be missed at all and should have just joined the labor party from day one. No loss at all and as trustworthy as a brownsnake. Blokes like Barnaby have morals at least which Turncoat would not know the meaning of. And flogs like bushie cant tell the difference. No wonder this country is in so much trouble.

The best thing he has done to date. Now if he will also take those other floor crossing Vichy Liberals, Macfarlane, Troeth and Boyce with him we could fill that wasted space. It was John howards past failures that turned a clever man into a competent politician but Turnbull lacked the dedication to collect his lumps and bumps. So all he had left was a massive ego that could not comprehend that spending 3 months campaigning for the Labor party was not a fatal mistake.

What position will KRuddy end up appointing him too?

Bushie ... regardless of his intelligence, the 'sore loser' response to losing leadership likely indicates his lack suitability to be a politician, work as a team, and listen to others. Maybe he's best suited in a private environment where he can do what he wants when he wants.

What about his interests in sheep farming. Being in a position to 'do something ' but remaining silent is unforgivable. He might be rich but hes not much of a bloke as far as i am concered. I hope his money makes him happy but somehow I think not. This isnt a happy man even when he was in politics. I think he craves people to like him. Bit hard under the circumstances. Give me a poor man with compassion anyday.
