Rudd set for Copenhagen climate change summit

Rudd set for Copenhagen climate change summit

13 Nov, 2009 10:12 AM
PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd has confirmed he will attend the Copenhagen conference on climate change and has urged other world leaders to follow suit.

Danish Prime Minister Rasmussen has invited all heads of government to attend the talks in late December, which are aimed at securing a new global treaty to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“I will be accepting Prime Minister Rasmussen's invitation and I will be attending the leaders' segment of the Copenhagen conference,” Mr Rudd told reporters in New Delhi at the conclusion of his Indian visit.

He said it was important that as many world leaders as possible attend the pre-Christmas talks to achieve an ambitious outcome.

“The Copenhagen meeting represents a critical moment in international efforts to reach a robust agreement on global action to tackle climate change,” Mr Rudd said.

The Prime Minister used the opportunity of confirming his attendance to resume pressure on the Coalition to pass the Government's emissions trading legislation.

“With only weeks to go, time is running out, time is running out for us all, time is also running out for the planet,” Mr Rudd said.

“We need action for business certainty, we need action for the sake of our children, we need action for the sake of our grandchildren.”

Mr Rudd flies out of India today bound for Singapore where he will attend the APEC summit.

He will return to Australia on Monday.

Dear Copenhagen, please don't send him back. He only wants a change of clothes anyway.

"Ambitious outcomes" - isn't that Newspeak for "unrealistic expectations"? KRudd is correct on one thing for sure, we do need action for the sake of our grandchildren. That action should ensure that such ridiculous international treaties which interfere with our national sovereignty and the right of our children to determine the nation's future are scrapped right from the start. Australians are aware of the need to reduce pollution (irrespective of whether so called climate change is man made or not), however, what we do not need is to be bound by yet another international agreement which will only further cripple our productivity and ensure more of our business and resources heads over to the "developing world", as stipulated by the Lima Agreement. - Andrew Phillips, Australian Protectionist Party

Carbon is the currency of life and the likes of Al Gore and Kevin Grub do not care about pollution in the thrid world but want to cripple the first world. There is no link between hotter temperature and higher carbon emissions. It is a another man made lie. Co2 is 95% water vapour so are these fools going to take out the clouds too? It is just TAX, TAX and more TAX. Don't trust the lazy Fabian Socialists of Labor, Liberal or the Greens as they want to redistribute the wealth to the non-productive peoples of the third world. There is only one true Australian alternative to the current mess; the Australian Protectionist party. Sign up for an Australian future today.

CO2 is not water vapour it is one atom of Carbon and two atoms of Oxygen. Water is two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen. If you don't understand the absolute basics, how can you understand the intricate details? Now we see the true colours - the Australian Protectionist Party! You could not even dress it up to be more attractive, you had to come out with it that clearly - why don't you call it the NIMBY party - protecting your way of life at the expense of others, no ethics, no morals and no sense of justice. Can't wait to see you guys marginalised like your One Nation predecessors.

The lorax, many of the Australian Protectionist Party were also One Nation members, and yes, they will once again sink into oblivion and obscurity from which they came.

Bushie Bill, it is true there are some ONP members who have joined APP, but we also have ex Nationals as well as some former Liberal rank and file members in our ranks. Heck, I've even met some former Labor supporters who realise the Party no longer gives a damn about working class Aussies. Perhaps the future does spell oblivion, but as least we care enough for the future of the nation to give it a go. What amazes me is the fact Australians continue to whinge about the rising cost of produce, despite so much being imported from developing countries, whine about border control, complain about foreign treaties and the loss of industry and a myriad of other national interest problems, only to turn around and vote for the same two idiotic parties which continue to implement the same disastrous policies. For what? The promise of a possible tax cut and the huff and puff of pretending to be tough on border control? You get the government you deserve.

Andrew, last time I looked, you were offering free membership (and a set of steak knives perhaps?) in an attempt to reach 500 (I think) members, to allow you to qualify as a political party. You started your membership campaign on Australia Day 2009. So how's it going, Andrew? How many members do you now have? With all the ratbag flat-earthers who turn up on these blogs, you shouldn't have any trouble getting the numbers. In fact, you are probably already planning the curtains at the Lodge. People should have a look at this mob’s website to see a perfect example of the right-wing rabid ratbag approach to solving the problems of the world.

Lorax, you are right on the composition of the makeup of Co2. My mistake and I admit it. Wouldn't it be refreshing to see Rudd and W(r)ong come clean on their anthropogenic lies? Do you mean you'd prefer to sell out primary and manufacturing industries so we can implement an ETS? You definitely do not understand the basics and intricate details of an ETS or the Copenhagen Treaty. It sounds like you sit around with the basket weavers collecting entitlements. When I see such negative and selfish comments like yours I do worry about my children's future. There is absolutely nothing wrong with protecting ones existence, would you prefer us to throw away our sovereignty to people with no ethics, no morals or sense of justice? It seems you do not understand the basics. You are the marginalised one playing the devil's advocate. Do you believe in man made climate change? If you do, where is the link between Co2 emission increase and temperature rises? I feel sorry for misguided people like you.

Bushie Bill, I used to be a member of the Liberal Party but over the years they have become a sub branch of the Labor Party. Your life and basket weaver Lorax's life will fade into oblivion if the current political parties aren't stopped. Your negative thoughts, "they will once again sink into oblivion and obscurity from which they came"...it seems to me you know a lot about sinking? Wouldn't it be nice if blind agitators like you understood what is really going on and decided to be involved in the resistance. The Australian people deserve a lot better than the present bunch of self righteous fools ruling us. We have over 2,000,000 Australians living in poverty, 700,000 unemployed, probably over 1,000,000 underemployed, foreign debt of over $1,000,000,000,000 so what is your plan to correct this decline? People like you have no regard for the people or future of Australia. It seems you'd prefer to open the flood gates to illegals and sign away our sovereignty, you are definitely not a patriot. The new kids on the block will do more good than negative people like you.
