Lord of climate change sceptics hot under collar

11 Nov, 2009 06:50 AM
NO DARK and smoke-filled room greeted the man Prime Minister Kevin Rudd decries as part of a worldwide conspiracy of sceptics intent on sabotaging any new climate treaty.

Instead, a gathering of avowed "sensible" environmentalists listened closely in the plush surrounds of Melbourne's Park Hyatt Hotel to a speech by Britain's Lord Christopher Monckton, who dismissed as "bogus" fears of global warming.

"Those who have been fostering what is essentially a baseless scientific scam have being trying to make the obvious sound absurd and the absurd sound obvious, and we are now going to turn the tables on them," Lord Monckton said.

With a rapid-fire computer slide-show as counterpoint to the famed warnings by former US vice-president Al Gore, Lord Monckton set out to an Institute of Public Affairs conference what he called a litany of lies by the United Nations on climate change. Most egregiously, Lord Monckton said, UN reports on climate change ignored evidence of global temperatures that were higher during medieval times than now.

He also rejected often-cited claims that 2500 scientific papers have backed the case for climate change, as well as the analysis of data that showed the problem was worsening.

"I'm calling these lies because that is what they are; they are deliberate attempts to mislead," he said.

Mr Rudd last week repeatedly called Lord Monckton, an adviser to former British Conservative prime minister Margaret Thatcher, a "world government conspiracy theorist", warning that unfounded and sceptical claims were hampering climate change negotiations.

"When Monckton speaks, prime ministers tremble," the British peer quipped yesterday during a video link-up from London.

Lord Monckton warned that the treaty proposed for climate talks in Copenhagen next month would create a new tyranny in world affairs.

"What I think will happen at Copenhagen is they won't agree on how much emissions for each country," he said.

"The bureaucrats will then sidle forward with their silky voices and their shiny shoes and their shiny pants, and they will say, 'Well, Prime Minister, you've come all this way, you need to go back with something. Why don't we all agree just to carry forward the institutional framework.

"And thus, by stealth - by bureaucratic coup d'etat - a world dictatorship, long the aim of those who set up the UN's climate panel, will have come into being."

How come we let this shonk into Australia? We deserve protection from such ratbags.

The only shonk here is Krudd and his loony left gang, and he would definitely be the biggest ratbag that ever held the PM office in this country.

Do a Google search on him, Loc Hey, and you will discover why shonk is an appropriate description.

I'd pay serious money to see this guy and Al Gore in a debate. To put him in the same room as Penny Wong would be just cruel and inhumane.

It is a simple, unalterable fact of life that the economics of climate change will not work withot rafts of rules and regulations and rules and regulations have to be policed and enforced.

The only practical way to enforce such regulations is via the economic blackmailing of non-compliant countries. That method is a long-established method of enforcing the will of the UN and the EU, and no one should doubt that it will be applied to enforcing full compliance with the Copenhagen Treaty.

The 64 dollar question is: Who within UN member states will police the police to minimise the corruption born of the economic oppression that thousands of individuals are bound suffer?

It's about time this 'chicken Little' nonsense was debunked. When you look at al the "proven science" of Wizard A Gore's camp, and compare that with level-headed fact, basic logic and reasoning tells you that the "urgent action" and an ETS is just a money-making exercise!

Not a single one on the Climate Change Cult's side ever mention the effects of the one thing which affects our climate the most (and we can't do a single thing about it)...THE SUN and SOLAR FLARES!!!

Bushie Bill, you need to look at the facts that Christopher Monckton presents before you start criticising. If you had a look at Al Gore's movie you should be able to tell who the real shonk is - and it's not Lord Monckton.

The man-made global warming scare is nothing more than an attempt by the United Nations to bring in their one-world government agenda. Our Prime Minister will be guilty of neglect if he signs any such agreements. Lord

Monckton has read the 200 pages of the United Nations proposal I'll bet our Prime Minister hasn't and won't.

There can be nothing more arrogant than man claiming to be responsible for climate change. Those who support it, will readily agree that climate has been with the world for 100s of 1000s of years - yet accurate measurement of weather, has been with us for a little over 300 years - and accurate measurement of the total inputs into climate, still defies scientists.

The Copenhagen Treaty is the equivalent of arriving at a conclusion for all the circumstances and reasons behind a train wreck, by examining the last .02 secs of impact.

No-one country leader has ever stated the real problem behind UN pronouncements and enforceable policies - they are a de-facto method of gaining power by circumventing countries democratically-elected governments, by initiating "reforms" and "agreements" that override govts elected powers.

This is a power grab by stealth, and Lord Monckton is the canary in the mine, warning of the increase in the debilitating gas known as the UN.

This debate would be quite comical if it weren't so serious. Honestly - we have a bunch of global socialist control freaks (including the UN) believing a bunch of yes-men "scientists" advancing a unilateral argument based on a selective five second snapshot of global climatology.

If you don't take a step back and look at the big picture (the very big picture - including ice-ages and "hot" periods) you should.

The arrogance of Gen-X and Gen-Y in believing that the human race can significantly influence earth's climate negatively or positively is nothing short of astounding and ludicrous! Yes the climate is changing - it always has and always will. Read Professor Ian Plimer's book "Heaven and Earth"!
