Lord Monckton clouds the climate data

Lord Monckton clouds the climate data

02 Feb, 2010 05:50 AM
A NASA satellite that would have measured atmospheric carbon dioxide with unprecedented accuracy fell into the Indian Ocean in February last year.

NASA said the crash was ''extremely disappointing''. Viscount Christopher Monckton of Brenchley, dubbed the ''high priest of climate sceptics'', doubts the space agency meant it.

''Not greatly to my surprise - indeed I predicted it - the satellite crashed on take-off because the last thing they want is real world hard data,'' he told a climate sceptics' lunch in Melbourne yesterday.

NASA understood that getting the satellite into orbit would have demonstrated ''the whole darn thing'' - climate-change science - ''is nonsense''.

Bold claims are stock-in-trade for Lord Monckton, a hereditary peer and one-time adviser to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who swung through Melbourne yesterday as part of a two-week national speaking tour.

He said he was the first to explain the theory of global warming on British television in the late 1980s; that the United Nations wanted to use climate change policy to create a world government; that today's environmentalists were just yesterday's communists in different clothing.

His biggest laugh at the first of his two Melbourne speeches came when he said describing environmentalists as ''green'' was a misnomer. ''I tend to call them the traffic-light tendency - greens too yellow to admit they're really red.''

His interests stretch beyond climate change. He makes the extraordinary claim, one that he admits sounds ''bonkers'', that he has also manufactured a cure to a long-term illness that attacked his endocrine system and patented the cure in conjunction with a British surgeon.

Though stressing it was in its early stages, he said the drug had had positive results treating HIV and multiple sclerosis. ''It also has been used to cure cases of colds, flu,'' he said.

Lord Monckton's stump speech is built around attacks on the science underpinning man-made climate change and the scientists and those that believe them. Though not a climate scientist, he said he had uncovered flaws through his understanding of mathematics - ''the language of science''.

He described government attempts to tackle climate change as ''a plot by the rich against the poor'' that would ''kill 5 billion, 6 billion people''.

The United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was guilty of ''systematically telling lies'' and exaggerating by up to 15 times the global warming that was likely by 2100.

Scientists associated with the UN panel dismiss his claims. Even Senate leader Barnaby Joyce, probably Federal Parliament's most prominent climate sceptic, has described Lord Monckton as being on ''the fringe''.

In the blogosphere, where the climate science debate thrives, his views are reviled and celebrated in roughly equal enthusiasm.

Yesterday he drew about 100 people - mostly retirees - to his lunch-time speech and an estimated 1000 to an evening address at the Sofitel.

There is no doubt that Monkton is a rabble-rouser. But he serves the vital role of securing the right flank of the sceptic movement. Thereby allowing the more reasoned and credible people in the middle room to move. Think of him as the anti-Gore.

Anyone who would turn up to listen to this fraud is as big a fool as he is a charlatan.

Isn't it interesting to see that that the two greatest names in CC and GW, at either end of the spectrum .. Gore & Monckton .. are both politicians .. and they both have no scientific qualifications? The more important angle to investigate is just who is going to benefit financially out of CC and GW new legislation? How many people realise that the Chicago Climate Exchange and the Chicago Climate Futures Exchange now deal in trade volumes that are 6 times larger than the regular Stock Market .. and they deal only in SIX so-called CC gases?? Surprise, surprise .. it's not the Average Joe Bloggs who is benefitting from CC and GW gases trading .. but the corporate and banking world. Do I smell a large rat? Monckton may be "fringe", but he's needed to arrest the lemming-like rush to follow the CC and GW cult.

The truth always hurts and this guy is simply pointing out that the average simpleton is being conned and scammed by some very smart traiters in high places. No point in shooting the piano player just because you don't like the message. You all need to grow a brain and listen to exacly what he has to say and do your own research to see he is correct.

Monkton is a mathematician, among other things, and the basis for his stand on the global warming issue is that all of the data used by the IPCC is mathematically flawed, deliberately scewed to present the outcome they want. Data wich is contrary to the agenda is normally not published in any UN or IPCC report, no matter how credible.

The "green" movement has backed itself into an indefensible climate corner. There can no longer be any doubt that data has been fudged and cherry picked to CONvince the public and this has been blatantly aided by the "green" media. By doing this they have ultimately done the our planet a great disservice - the public can never believe any "science" they put forward again. So who now will advocate for our planet?

Don't you like the truth being spread Bushie Bill? It hurts doesn't it when someone comes along and takes away your easy lifestyle of taxpayer funded everything. Man made global warming is the only fraud I know of along with all the industries that have sprung up with it.

Bill, tell me the mathematics qualifications this fraud has please?

So Monckton reckons that NASA made the satellite fail and that 5-6 billion people are at risk - that is nearly the entire population of the world.

I bet, mick, that you get more out of the taxpayer than I do. Just as a matter of interest, how are you able to make any statement about my lifestyle and source of income? And finally, just to force home the point (of making stupid assumptions), nobody is taking away anything from me, except, perhaps, my tolerance for putting up with fools.
