Bright future for agricultural graduates with NAB

27/05/2008 3:59:00 PM
The National Australia Bank says that careers for agricultural graduates are brighter than ever, despite the image that Australian farming has suffered through years of drought.

NAB’s general manager of agribusiness, Khan Horne, is encouraging students in rural Australia to consider a degree in agriculture, saying the industry, including banking, is crying

out for more graduates.

“Many people still think that studying agriculture means working on a farm, but this is far from the case,” Khan said.

“As well as a range of practical jobs in agriculture, there is research, agronomic advice, financial advice, economics and many other opportunities for graduates in agriculture and

related fields – both in Australia and overseas.”

NAB Agribusiness has one of the largest agricultural graduate programs in Australia, employing more than 300 graduates since the inception of the specialist division in 2001.

“We look for candidates with a love of the land and an interest in finance," he said.

"With agribusiness and post-farm-gate specialists located in more than 110 locations throughout regional Australia, as well as in capital cities, the opportunities are more varied than many think.

“We see our agriculture graduates as a valuable resource, and we invest heavily in their recruitment and training.”
